Video Specific Project Managers

Role/Responsibilities

BBM is seeking a contractor with project/people management experience, who is familiar with animation/video production. This may include: post-production, videography, animation(2D or 3D), and motion graphics. Video PM’s will help ensure projects are handled smoothly from conception to final on-time delivery.

Duties may include:

  • interfacing with clients, both via email and in video meetings
  • managing assets
  • working with productivity tools to manage tasks and keep projects organized and moving forward
  • delivering clear, compassionate direction to our talented illustrators, animators, and video editors
  • reviewing submitted videos to ensure they meet the client and BBM’s notes (both global and specific), art direction, and style guides
  • Ideal candidates would have access to Adobe Creative Cloud and be familiar with both After Effects and Premiere (or potentially, Final Cut Pro), as well as Google Workspace apps. Working knowledge of Photoshop and Illustrator are a plus!

Project Manager

Summary

The principal role of the Project Manager is to plan, organize, and control resources to shepherd cross-departmental projects from A to Z. We are looking for a contract project manager who is available for 30-40 hours per week.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Owns project launch upon receipt of contract
    • Initiates/runs external product launch meeting with client and BBM team
    • Initiates/runs internal product launch meeting with client and BBM team
    • Creates workflow in Wrike project management platform
  • Project staffing
    • Collaboratively identifies staffing needs with department heads 
    • Assists in sourcing and onboarding new vendors
  • Next-step wrangling
    • Liaison between departments to ensure cohesive project progress
    • Bring clarity to ambiguous project goals, steps, requirements and solution needs.
    • Alert cross-departmental team to upcoming milestone dates and potential conflicting priorities on a more granular level.
  • Product delivery
    • Delivers iterative development to client 
    • Manages feedback and questions
    • Delivers final product to client

About You

Successful candidates will have 1-3 years of project management experience with experience in tracking, planning projects, and cross-departmental diplomacy; 1+ years of content development/publishing or related industry experience is preferred.

Freelance Curriculum Layout Designer

Book Buddy is looking for an experienced, detail-oriented freelance graphic designer/production artist with 20-30 hours per week of availability. This position will be responsible for design and layout for print, focusing on curriculum layout for textbooks. 

Role/Responsibilities

  • Layout and page production of print materials:
    • Curriculum textbooks and teacher guides
    • K-12 school library books
  • Typesetting for various print layouts, using and following established brand guidelines, style sheets, and design standards as established for each project
  • Analyze and input changes to existing textbook layouts, repaginate textbooks according to client specifications
  • High-res photo color-correction, editing, and cutout images
  • Creation of custom charts and graphs in Illustrator
  • Inputting editorial and client feedback into layouts
  • Preparing files for print using industry best practices
  • Careful file management and handling, working in a cloud-based environment

About You

This fully-remote freelance position is perfect for you if you have 2-3 years of experience typesetting books or other long publications into layout. You are a self-starter, comfortable working independently and interacting with other team members virtually via email, video call, or chat.

Applicants should have an exacting eye for detail, ability to source textbook content from multiple sources and accurately synthesize input into a single layout, and be comfortable occasionally working in other languages (foreign language proficiency not required, but certainly a plus!).

Required Skills:

  • Fluent in InDesign, Photoshop, & Illustrator
  • Experience following InDesign templates—using style sheets, parent pages, managing long documents, using an INDB file structure
  • Organization skills: highly organized and able to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and communicate effectively
  • Experience preparing files for print, including knowledge of industry best practices for print production
